Bounceback, the Northwestern District Attorney’s bad check enforcement program assists merchants to combat the losses from bad checks by utilizing a pre-complaint diversion program to assure FULL restitution for the victim, including any bank charges. Using this program allows merchants to recover their losses without having to spend additional time and money in using the court system to recover their losses.

The Bounceback program is free to all merchants doing business within Hampshire and Franklin counties and the town of Athol that register with the program. It is a multi-faceted approach that includes: assistance in recovering money lost to worthless checks, pursuit and prosecution of check offenders who refuse to make restitution, programs to reduce the number of worthless checks that end up in a business and, finally, education to help check offenders avoid future worthless checks.
